Pollen Forecast 2022 (Part 2) : ～Peaks in Many Areas～

Japan Weather Association (JWA) released the Spring Pollen Forecasting in Japan on March 15, 2022.
1． Status of Cedar and Cypress Pollen Dispersal
From end of February to first week of March, warm air flowed into Japan. After passing the low atmospheric pressure, the temperature dropped temporarily. But after March 10, the highest temperature is expected to be around 20 Celsius in many areas, and it makes the amount of pollen release increased.
Cedar pollen has already started to spread in nationwide (as of March 14). The beginning of cedar pollen dispersal was February 12 in Fukuoka, March 2 in Osaka and Nagoya, February 25 in Tokyo, and March 4 in Sendai. Cypress pollen is also observed March 9 in Fukuoka, March 10 in Oita, and some of the areas have already started to spread.

2． Peak Forecast for Each Area
Cedar pollen dispersal is already in its peak. A daily amount of release is over 100 per square centimeter in Kyushu, Kinki, Tokai and Kanto area, and it will be increasing. It is expected that the maximum temperature will continue to be higher than normal in the future, and it will be hard for people with hay fever for a while.
In Osaka, the peak of pollen release was March 5, and it will be continued by late March. The beginning of spread in Tokyo was late than past 3 years, but after the dispersal the pollen amount will increase and entered its peak on March 5 same as Osaka. The peak in Tokyo will also last by late March.
*Definition of peak of cedar pollen:
the beginning of peak date is the first day of the amount of release last 50 or more per square centimeter two days in a row.

* The expected number of dispersals is the median value between the minimum and maximum which expected in Tama area.
* The values up to last year are the ratio to the total number of release particles in that year.
