Developing Weather Content to Enrich Your Daily Life
Services
Creating original weather-related contents relevant for everyday life by using weather information in creating projects and services for a more bountiful day.
Weather information contains a variety of component, cloud coverage, precipitation, temperature, and wind direction and speed, and many rely on this information when deciding what their schedule of the day would look at.
Questions like: What should I wear today? Do I need a coat? Health conditions can be readily affected by temperatures and atmospheric pressures, necessitating proactive measures.
JWA plans and develops content that is more closely aligned with everyday life and health considerations
PROJECTS:
■ AI 天気 (note: 天気 pronounced “tenki”, meaning weather, AI-tenki.) By: Fuji Television Network, Inc. "Mezamashi TV" × Spectee Inc. × Japan Weather Association
Overview:
AI天気 uses AI technology to analyse weather camera footage for television programs. The AI can for example determine the rate of [Spring coat wearers], process this into numerical data values and present this in real-time information. Through surveys done by JWA, the first thing many do when getting out of bed is to see the weather forecasts broadcasting on TV, for then to decide on the day’s attire and other necessities to bring. Current temperatures and apparent temperatures often influence these choices the most.
In response to the results from the surveys, JWA, Fuji TV and Spectee combined forces to work on this experiment in creating new lifestyle contents, using current temperatures and apparent temperatures as these factors often influence what we choose to wear and what we would need to bring with us.

■ Heat Shock Forecast By: Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. × Japan Weather Association
Overview:
For many years, medical professionals and expert have been concerned regarding accidents caused by big temperature differences within the house. Due to sudden change in temperatures, such as moving from a warm space to a cold space or getting out from a hot bathtub into a cold room, a heat shock can cause dizziness and fainting, while awareness among the general public has been low, and there has been little recognition of the issue.
Tokyo Gas and JWA have joined hands in raising awareness of these health hazards and developed the Heat Shock Forecast. This initiative combines weather forecasts with heat shock risk information into a guideline, with special caution towards the dangers at home.
The Heats Shock Forecast is available for anyone on [myTOKYOGAS] and [tenki.jp] websites, and the release of the index has also enabled the media to disseminate information on heat shock prevention.
Extreme temperature fluctuations can lead to health declines. It is advisable to warm up the bathroom and changing room as well when taking baths in winter, keep the areas you frequent at a reasonable temperature, and avoid having spots of extremely cold temperatures in your home. Reducing exposure to big temperature changes is the first counter measurement against heat shock, and the Heat Shock Forecast was created to encourage such proactive steps.
