Best Viewing Forecast for Autumn Foliage in October 2023
Late autumn leaves to continue to change color over three-day weekend, so be careful of snowfall in mountains during peak viewing period
Press Release
Japan Weather Association (JWA) released the Best Viewing Forecast for Autumn Foliage on October 3, 2023.

【The Best Viewing Forecast in Japan】
The best time to view autumn foliage is from September to late November. However, a delay in color change is possible especially if the temperatures are higher than usual in the same period. For example, the late summer heat recorded in September delayed the coloring of autumn foliage in many places. Although some days in the first half of October will be affected by cold air, temperatures are expected to remain high throughout the country in the second half of October and into November. Therefore, the best time to view autumn foliage will be later than usual in northern Japan. For eastern and western Japan, it is likely to be either at the usual time or slightly later.
