By combining proprietary weather forecast data with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) analytics, Japan Weather Association delivers accurate forecasts of electricity market prices.

Japan Weather Association (JWA)’s Price Forecasting (Electricity Market Price Forecasting) service provides online forecasts of spot market prices—both system prices and area prices—traded on the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX).

Electricity market prices traded by power providers, along with imbalance charges and unit prices calculated based on spot and hour-ahead market prices, have a significant impact on the financial performance of electricity providers. To support effective management, JWA has developed Price Forecasting, a service that forecasts electricity trading prices in the day-ahead (spot) market.

By leveraging proprietary weather forecast data such as temperature and solar radiation, together with weather big data analytics and AI-driven analytical techniques, the Price Forecasting service delivers forecasts of electricity market prices from the next day up to one month ahead.

Service details:

The service details are as follows. It can also be provided via ENeAPI, an API service for energy businesses. Within 2025, we plan to further expand our services by launching price forecasts for the supply and demand adjustment market at the Electric Power Reserve Exchange (EPRX).
