Japan Weather Association speaks at the 6th Taiwan Weather Industry Forum, 2025 A keynote speech on integrating weather and ocean forecasts and their application in industry

Japan Weather Association (JWA) participated in the 6th Taiwan Weather Industry Forum, held in Taipei on August 19, 2025. The theme was “A New Future for the Blue Economy: Marine Meteorological Industry and Industrial Innovation.” The event was organized by the Central Weather Administration under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Taiwan, in cooperation with the Taiwan Climate Services Partnership and the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research.
First held in 2020, the forum has been convened annually to discuss measures to combat climate change and promote the industrial use of meteorological data. Participating for the third consecutive year, JWA was represented by Kuniaki Matsuura, Deputy General Manager of the Disaster Management Department, Disaster Management and Weather Digital Transformation Division, who delivered a keynote address titled “Integration of weather and ocean forecasts and their use in industry: Ensemble-based storm surge prediction and road management”.

In response to the impacts of global climate change and the growing trend toward digital transformation, Taiwan is advancing corporate initiatives for climate change countermeasures and accelerating business growth through the use of meteorological data in digital transformation. Through its participation in this forum, JWA aims to contribute to Taiwan’s climate change initiatives and the development of its meteorological services market by sharing examples of various weather data–driven business applications developed in Japan
