ENeAPI, an API Service for the Energy Industry

Japan Weather Association provides highly accurate weather information specialised for the energy industry through Web API.

ENeAPI provides highly accurate weather information through Web API, including estimates and forecasts, specialized for the energy industry. This service can be applied across a wide range of energy businesses, including solar and wind power generation, electricity retail, grid storage batteries, distributed energy resource management such as power generation and storage facilities, and O&M (operation and maintenance) services.
ENeAPI is divided into four main categories.

  • “Solar Power API” : Information for solar energy operators
  • “Wind Power API” : Information for wind energy operators
  • “Energy Management API” : Information for energy management businesses
  • “Risk Information API" : Information for distributed energy resource owners and operation management companies

*A: Information such as power generation equipment specifications is required for power generation output conversion.
*B: A sequential correction function for forecast values based on solar radiation estimates (SOLASAT 9-Now) owned by Japan Weather Association is available. Corrections can also be made using local weather observation values and actual solar power output values obtained by the customer.

Features

  • Highly accurate weather forecast data at 30 minutes intervals, up to 2 days in advance, making it suitable for power trading in the wholesale electricity market, with an extensive data lineup covering forecasts up to two weeks ahead.
  • Providing forecast information by location points, with rapid updates when locations are changed.
    Japan: can be set based by postal code, latitude and longitude coordinates, facility information, etc.
    Global: latitude and longitude coordinates
  • Web API enables faster provision of weather data at lower cost than conventional methods. Easy integration of data into various customer systems.

Purpose

  • Providing support to create a highly accurate energy sales-plans for the renewable energy industry, for energy companies, balancing groups, and energy aggregation, lastly support the reduction of imbalance risks.
  • Supporting electricity providers in creating economical electricity procurement plans
  • Enhance and efficient the market transactions in virtual power plant (VPP) business and demand response (DR)
  • The use of surplus electricity for households who ended FIT
    (Promotion of self-consumption in combination with storage batteries, support for predicting surplus electricity, etc.)
  • Operational support for EMS (Energy Management Service), ZEH (Net Zero Energy House), etc. combined with renewable energy generation equipment, storage batteries, electric vehicles (EV), etc.
  • Support for the introduction of self-consignment, on-site PPA, and off-site PPA using renewable energy generation (support for achieving R E100)
  • Realization of advanced energy management from individual factories, buildings, and residences to microgrids, smart cities, and even power area units
  • Determining whether to carry out offshore/underwater work in conjunction with preliminary surveys and environmental assessments for offshore wind power generation.

Prices vary depending on the requested elements and number of locations. Therefore, if you specify the target content, provision elements, and number of locations from the service list, we will give you a customized estimate.

After the start date stated in the application form, you can use this service based on the access information we will send. Access information will be issued within approximately 10 business days after the application is returned and received.

We ask you to confirm the purpose of use in advance, and only use the data provided within the decided-on range. If considering including a third party beside the contract holder to access the data, please contact us individually.

When using this service, we ask that you limit your access to a certain frequency. If you require higher frequency access, please contact us individually.

Acquisition via API is limited, but past data may be available upon request (for a fee).

This refers to the azimuth and tilt angle of the panel, as well as the rated capacity (an instruction manual will be sent separately when using the service). For further information, please contact us.
